Runners can look forward to racing into the sunset at the next two races in the four race Spur Cape Summer Trail Series®, taking place at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and Meerendal Wine Estate.

After an exciting start on the trails of Lebanon Forest in Elgin valley, the popular trail series heads to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on 24 January, where runners will tackle trails through Table Mountain’s indigenous forests and the landscaped gardens of this 528-hectare national treasure. This beautiful venue is exclusive to the Spur Cape Summer Trail Series® allowing runners the privilege of running through a World Heritage Site either on a 5,8km or 10km course. This unique experience starts up to an hour before sunset, meaning that the slower runners would need to carry a torch or headlamp.

“It’s a magical experience – with the garden largely empty it’s just you and the magic that is Kirstenbosch, combined with the mystery of running here at dusk! This is a real privilege and an experience not to be missed.” commented Wildrunner Event Manager, Philip Olckers.

Race three of the four race series, on the 8 February, takes place at a new trail running race venue on Meerendal Wine Estate.  This exclusive route is marked over the manicured mountain bike trails of this famous, 300 year-old Estate.  Participants can look forward to not only spectacular trails, but to one of the most magnificent views of Table Mountain at sunset from the high point on the route.

“It’s a real coup for us to secure this venue for the Spur Trail Series® – runners will get exclusive use of the same beautifully cut mountain bike trails used for the prologue of the ABSA Cape Epic. This truly promises to be a magically thrilling evening for all participants,” says Olckers.

Up for grabs at the Spur Trail Series® are fantastic spot prizes courtesy of Spur Steak Ranches, Raidlight and Steenberg Wine Estate. The spot prizes include a Raidlight Jacket worth R1500.

So come and enjoy the thrill of running on exclusive trails into the heart of dusk.  For more info and to enter: (linked in digital copy to
