What on earth is a Mannequin Challenge you are asking? A Mannequin Challenge is a viral internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a moving camera films them.
This year, for the first time during the Slow Festival (14-16 April), the organisers of the highly popular Pick n Pay Goukamma Traverse & Family Fun Trail Run will be attempting a Mannequin Challenge at the finish line of the event, just before prize giving at 11h15 on Sat 15th April on the Village Green in Sedgefield.
“Mannequin challenges often take a few attempts to get them 100% right” said Traverse organiser Amanda Dixon, “but we won’t have the opportunity for that, so we’re planning to brief all our trail runners just before prize giving, sound the loudhailer indicating that everyone should FREEZE and our cameraman will then move swiftly through the FROZEN crowd with his GoPro recording all our hot n sweaty athletes.”
So if you’d like to be part of the Mannequin Challenge but aren’t a runner, come and be a supporter on the finish line cheering for a finisher as he stops mid-stride in ‘freeze frame’ over the finish line!
