SUMMARY:The Old Mutual Two Oceans Trail Run 2017
DESCRIPTION:The Old Mutual Two Oceans Trail Runs take runners through through the forests above UCT and offer inspiring vistas over the peninsula on Good Friday morning. \nBoth the Short and the Long runs start at the UCT grounds and take runners along the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak and nearby forests. Open to beginners and experienced trail runners\, these  challenging routes boast varied terrain with steep ascents and technical descents. \nPlease note that the minimum age for the 12km is 14 years of age and the minimum age for the 24km is 16 years of age. \nBoth routes are incredibly popular and entries sell out within minutes. \n\nCompulsory Equipment for the Trail Runs\n12km: \n1. Water – Carry at least 1 Litre. Hydration Pack recommended. Please note there is no water table on the course.\n2. Food – Energy Bar/ Sandwich/ Banana.\n3. A cell phone charged with organiser’s number in Ziplock bag. (021 937 0324 – emergencies only) saved and stored in a Ziplock bag.\n4. Windbreaker/waterproof jacket recommended. Weather dependant but not compulsory for short course.\n5. Hat and sun lotion recommended.\n6. Race Number is compulsory to start event.\n7. All runners are required to wear a RaceTec timing chip on one of their shoes during the race. The chip must be registered in your name and not belong to someone else. Runners who do not own a chip (or have lost theirs) must purchase a new chip when they enter\, and runners who lose their timing chips after entering or have left them at home will be able to buy a new timing chip at Registration.\n \n24km: \n1. Water – Carry at least 2 Litres. Bladder pack strongly recommended. No official water tables on course\, but emergency water point at the Block House.\n2. There is a compulsory equipment check on entering the Start Pen. If you do not have the required equipment with you\, you will not be allowed to start the race.  In addition\, there will be a gear check on the route to ensure that you still have the right kit.\n– Do not run with headphones or your dogs.\n– Don’t run if you are sick!\n– DO NOT LITTER!\n– You are welcome to take photos\, but step out of the way of other runners when you do. \n\n\n
