Llands and Sands Trail Run
25 August @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Welcome to the third hosting of the annual Llands and Sands trail run, in support of Llandudno Surf Lifesaving Club. Following on from 2 unbelievable years of this fantastic event, this year promises to be the biggest yet with some incredible scenery, great spot prizes and a fantastic atmosphere.
RACE DATE: SATURDAY 25 AUGUST 2018
RACE TIME: 8h30 START
VENUE: LLANDUDNO SURF LIFESAVING CLUB
We look forward to hosting you again for this fantastic event and hope you will be able to forgo your weekly Parkrun to join us on this magical section of coastal track to support your local volunteer lifeguards. Please be at the lifesaving club (situated at the northern end of the main beach) between 7h00 and 8h00 to get your race numbers marked on you. On the day entries need to arrive with cash in hand between 7h00 and 7h45.
The race starts at 8h30 with briefing just before. The start line is 50m away from the clubhouse. There is ample parking near the beach and on street parking in the roads at the bottom of llandudno. You are welcome to leave personal belongings at the club. Whilst we cannot take responsibility for any losses, we will do our utmost to ensure they are safely stashed away for collection after the run.
The distances are:
1km fun beach run (only prizes for under 14) – R60
4km route (some single track trails with a sting in the tail) – R120
11km route including some stunning single track and beautiful scenery – R150
On the day late entries charged an additional fee of R30
The route is fantastic, with some beautiful mixed terrain and scenery and some hills that will be sure to test your skills. The route will be well marked, with the 11km competitors enjoying some stunning coastal single tracks. There are NO water points, but the route does bypass the clubhouse at the 2km mark, so if you are in dire need of some fluids feel free to take a little detour past the club (the clock does not stop for you). Be prepared for the sting in the tail, the 4km route has 225m elevation gain and the 11km has 450m elevation gain.
No animals please, you can run with them afterwards. Whilst we have paramedics, we urge you to be careful on the route, especially on the technical downhill sections and single track (around 2kms and 6kms into the route). Only overtake when safe to do so, and please do communicate your intentions to other runners – we encourage good sportsmanship.
Feel free to hang around with us after the event for some beach time. There will be some sponsored drinks at the finish line, as well as a cash bar and snacks on offer. All monies raised are going directly to the lifesaving club.
Prizegiving will take place around 10h00. There are some category prizes as well as some lucky draw prizes, so do please stay closeby, because everybody loves a re-draw.
It’s looking like another great day to be on the trails.
