Helderberg Mountain Challenge 2016
30 April, 2016 @ 07:00 - 14:00
HELDERBERG MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE 24km (HMC)
Total ascent: 1 960m
24km of mountain challenge that takes in both the 1 131m Helderberg Dome, and the 1 003m West Peak twice – and includes contouring around the Central Peaks – before descending the same route at the end of the HMC. With a total ascent of around 1 960m (and of course equal descent) this one is going to make your calves and quads burn.
Don’t let the “short” distance fool you, the HMC is one of the toughest and most brutal trail runs out there. The climbing is relentless and the downhill at the end isn’t much reprieve either.
HELDERBERG MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE LITE 15km (HMC LITE)
Total ascent: 900m
A 15km mountain trail run of epic proportion. With over 900m of vertical height gain to the summit over a distance of 6.5km, and 430m of that in the last 1.75km, it’s set to get your heart pounding and your legs pumping. A scenic beauty, but one that is tough and should not be underestimated.
HELDERBERG MOUNTAIN RUN 10.75km (HMR)
Total ascent: 600m
If this all sounds a little too mountain-man for you, then why not take part in the Helderberg Mountain Run (HMR)? A 10.75km trail run, with a challenging 600m vertical gain through the lower slopes of the Helderberg Nature Reserve. This will take you through some of the same thrilling paths and tracks, without the big lung and leg busting summit and technical trail.
