Crazy Magaliesberg Race Info for Saturday

Entries All Full.

Kiddies Trot is free and kicks off at 11am-ish, follow the Clown. Free Crazy Store kiddies Goody bag for all participants.

The weather forecast is for a warm, sunny day - which means take plenty of water on your run.

Venue - Van Gaalens, directions on the website. Open at 6.30am.

Parking - please do not leave any valuables in your car (cell phones, laptops, wallets). We have car guards, but would like to avoid tempting bandits. AND do not drop your car keys in the mountain!

On arrival, pop across to registration to collect your Race Number (to be worn on FRONT), your t-shirt and cap. Then warm up with coffee and a rusk. After your run, free 15min leg massage in the tent - jot your name on the list.
Lunch (Chicken Prego Roll with potato salad) is available from 11am. You can order from the Restaurant Menu for your own account. The Bar is open for drinks. Relax and enjoy welcoming runners home.

35km Runners Note:

The improved route is more than 35km, with tough ascents, tricky technical running and descents that should be walked. This is a challenging mountain run, that will take the fit, fast runners more than 3 hours and the normal folk up to 6 hours, or more.
You should take 2 litres of water, the berg is dry. You are required to take with you a minimum of 1 litre of hydration, food for the trail (like a sarmie, energy bars, fruit or a roast chicken - you will need the energy!), a charged cell phone and a wind-breaker. We will do random equipment checks.

For emergency calls only - use 082 8964537 for Race Director, Trevor. Put this number into your cell.

The challenge is to complete this adventure intact. There are no marshals, the course is marked with arrows and cairns. Stay awake and follow these markers. The vultures are circling. Take it easy, enjoy the journey, stop to look at the views. Please listen to briefing at the start of the run.

Reg will open early for 35km runners at 6.30am. Climb on the bus from 7.30am (after visiting the loo), to depart soon after 8am. Race starts at 9am.

Cut-off at 1pm Greek Church - if you run very slowly, we may 'short-course' you after descending from the ridge-line, as there is still another hard kloof-climb to claw your way up. This race is not over, till it's over.

Collapse on your arrival at the finish, grab lunch and 35km Prize-giving from 2pm.

22km Runners Note:

You are required to carry 1 litre of water with you, along with some food and your cell. You do pass 2 water tables. Sections of the route are tricky, please concentrate on the arrow markers. The guy in front of you may be lost!
Reg opens at 7am, Race starts just after 9am.

10km Runners Note:

We have a large field of 10km runners and will be doing batch starts. When you collect your race number, you may choose your batch. 'A' for the speedsters, 'D' for tortoises - be honest, as this helps the trail flow smoothly. Only start in the right batch.
Reg open at 7am, Races start from 9.30am.

Downgrades to shorter races. As all the race categories are full, we do not offer automatic downgrades.

Prizegiving for 10km and 22km will be after the Kiddies Trot at 12-ish. We have R20 000 of cash to hand out. Lucky draw winners will receive their own indigenous tree to take home.

Results and Free photos are posted on our website and facebook pages - 'like' us and 'tag' your pic.

We have raised R7000 for charity and are donating this to the Vulture Conservancy - thank you.

Hot, damn hot!
